OUR MISSION IS TO CONNECT OUR YOUTH AND YOUNG ADULTS TO THEIR JEWISH IDENTITY THROUGH MEANINGFUL AND ENGAGING ISRAEL EXPERIENCE PROGRAMS AND INFORMAL JEWISH EDUCATION.
“In recent decades, there has been a new focus on the visit to Israel as a potentially powerful experience in the education and identity development of Young Jews… When taken as a whole, the body of research that exists clearly demonstrates that such an experience is one of the most powerful forces that the North American Jewish Community has at its disposal to face the challenge of Adult Jewish identity and involvement” (Barry Chazan, Arianne Koransky, Does Teen Israel Experience Make a Difference. November 1997, p.5)

The vision and commitment of the Montreal Jewish community and our lay leadership has brought to life an outstanding organization and support structure. The Bronfman Israel Experience Centre (BIEC) is the community organization charged with the development and implementation of Israel Experience programs for Montreal youth and young adults ages 14 to 35. As a department of the Bronfman Jewish Education Centre, an Agency of FEDERATION CJA, BIEC is committed to a strong tradition of excellence in preserving the highest quality of educational, logistical, and safety standards. As a not-for-profit organization, BIEC is funded by FEDERATION CJA, and private donations.
We are extremely proud of our partnership with Canada Israel Experience (CIE), our national organization under United Israel Appeal (UIA Federations Canada), with offices in Toronto and Jerusalem. As the leading Israel tour organizer in Canada, CIE is committed to ensuring that all of our programs provide BIEC participants with a unique, unparalleled Israel Experience. The welfare of our participants is of utmost concern, and in an ongoing effort to secure the safety of each participant; all BIEC/CIE itineraries are planned in accordance with the security directives of the Israeli Ministry of Education, the Israeli Defense Forces, Israeli Police, and the Jewish Agency for Israel Follow-up programming is one of the most important elements of the “BIEC package” provided for our participants. Follow-Up is not a post program initiative. Follow-Up in Montreal is a process that begins from the minute a participant registers with us for an Israel Experience program. We engage participants time and again, through preparatory sessions, both educational and social, prior to their departure on the program. While in Israel, we have our professional staff, normally the Follow-Up Coordinator, engage the participants and explore with them ways to make their experience relevant in Montreal. Our weekly newsletter reaches over 3000 Israel Experience alumni and the list is constantly growing. All these elements combined, provide participants a feeling of family and an opportunity to engage the community on an individual level.
Our partnerships with community organizations which deal with youth and young adults continue to strengthen. The Follow-Up Coordinator works closely with Hillel, Centre Hillel and FedNext to support and create programs that are attractive and inviting to our alumni.
